November 14th, 2011 - October Oh October
Let's just say that October came in with a bang, a very expensive bang. I'd like to tell you more, but I will be posting something soon about our Holiday Fundraiser that will surely get you the whole story. We began the 10th calendar month in Indy at our usual stomping grounds the Rathskeller and our new summer/fall wine festival group at White River State Park. The weather was colder than expected when we arrived from IL so we had to spend some time at the mall purchasing outerwear for the season. Luckily, I found a sale at Eddie Bauer. The make good clothes incidentally, I don't go there very often but maybe I should.

After Indy, we came home just to head out for a few college one off's in South Carolina and Pennsylvania and I fixed a few cases. My handy work appeared at the Taste of DC on Columbus Day in downtown DC yet no one seemed to care that I fixed my gimpy pedal case that has been broken for 5 months now. Who has the time?? We did have time for a few weddings and a casino mid month. There is nothing like playing a wedding durring an afternoon when everyone is so happy and hopeful followed by a casino where so many people look beat down and defeated, what a contrast.

Out of the blue, I found myself with out my wallet during the trip down to Charlotte, NC for the first wedding. This wasn't an ordinary lost wallet, and I am pretty sure It wasn't stolen. I am not only mad because I lost the wallet, cash, had to cancel cards and get a new drivers licence, but I am so OCD that I rarely misplace anything. Everything has it's place and I don't loose wallets! Ahhhhhh. Just another stroke of October Oh October.

While I recovered from my missing wallet, carrying my passport everywhere for ID, we drove to PA and NY for a few shows while I put final preparations in for my Marathon later in the month. We played in Erie and Media, PA while stoping in Pittsburg to drop off Phil's guitar for a magical repair. In Erie we played a venue made just for me. In Media we played at an outside festival with the Penn State Nitty Lion that Phil thought was a Bear. The band left for Utica, NY without Phil while he stayed at home with his lovely bride awaiting for the arrival of their second child. We made the full day trip up and back with lots of Dunkin coffee and WaWa sandwiches.

On October 30th I ran my 4th Marathon (3rd Barefoot) while the Washington Redskins got shut out. On this beautiful day the Skins were getting there ass handed to them while I was eating an entire Vocelli's Pizza and Dogfish Head Pumpkin Ales. After 26.2 miles I eat/drink whatever I want to all day and sleep for 12 hours straight. October started shaky but ended well for me. The rest of band faired quite well for the durration.

What Makes Me Smile:
  • The Beer Selection at Rathskeller
  • When 100 hippies asked us if we were the Avett Brothers. They were playing on the other side of the city, but somehow they wondered over to a wine festival.
  • GroundsKeeper Willy
  • Caps games with Donnie and Carlos
  • The Penn State Grizzly Bear
  • Redskins wrist bands around my ankles
  • Getting to stop running after 4 hours
  • Drinking a Guinness barefoot at a bar

  • Cheers, Chris
